Camp day 2 news

Camp day 3 news.

The fifth graders will be leaving for Camp Cuyamaca on Monday, May 14th and arriving on Friday, May 18th. We will arrive on Friday, May 18th between 12:30 and 1:00.  Students will go home at this time.  We look forward to a wonderful trip.  Please check the Palmquist Website nightly for to see how the students are doing at camp.  Thank you for allowing your child be a part of the camp experience.   Mr. Jarvis and Mrs. Gill 

The Palmquist Chess Team took 3rd place in the district-wide annual chess tournament... Way to go Roadrunners!

Palmquist was officially designated a STEM-E School at the Oceanside Unified School District Board Meeting tonight, Tuesday, April 24th.  More exciting news to follow!!!  Thanks to everyone.....Green Team, Trash Talkers, staff, students, parents, community members...WE DID IT!!!!

   & if possible -Last Report Card from previous school – if student is 1^st grade or above

For the third time, Palmquist Elementary School has been named a California Distinguished School.  State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson made the announcement today.  Fellow OUSD school, North Terrace Elementary, was also bestowed with the prestigious honor.

Only 387 of the more than 5,500 public elementary schools in the state were recognized as “distinguished.”  Palmquist also won the award in 2004 and 1998, joining North Terrace and South Oceanside Elementary as the only schools in the OUSD to ever win the award three times.

To be invited to apply for this award, schools must meet a variety of eligibility requirements, including designated federal and state accountability measures based on the Elementary and Secondary Education Act and the state’s Academic Performance Index (API).

Way to go Palmquist staff and students!

"Showcase Night" highlighted all of our school's activities.  Orchestra, MIND music, PREP, science fair, Green Team and Zero Waste, plus classroom exhibits.  Book Fair sales in the Library.   Dinner was provided by Out Back Steakhouse.  Thanks for attending.

Palmquist's 5th Grade teachers received grant allowing their students to participate in the Sea Star Floating Marine Lab field trip aboard the Sea Star Vessel out of Oceanside Harbor.  Everyone has agreed that this was the best field trip ever!  Below are the video links of Mrs. McConchie's, Mr Jarvis' and Mrs. Reed's classn and  Mrs. Gill's.  What an great adventure and experience for our students! Dear Parents and Guardians,

I want to thank helpers who were able to magically get our library systematically packed up in a day.  Our Fifth Grade students are enjoying good weather and a great time while at camp. All teachers have received their boxes and are beginning to pack.  Next week, our school will receive the Official California Distinguished School Award along with Superintendent Larry Perondi, and Board President Mike Blessing at a County Celebration.  Congratulations Palmquist!

Computer lab is open everyday from 7:30-8:12 AM. Every morning, between 60 and 70 Palmquist students and parents take advantage of extra computer time to finish assignments, take an AR quiz, work on reading or math.  Do you need some extra time?  See Mr. Swank for permission slip. And come on in to join in the fun of learning.....

All students in grades 1-5 now have campus access to the amazing JiJi math program from the MIND institute.  Go Roadrunners!!! We are very proud to be the first school in Coastal North San Diego County with the MIND math program. We encourage you to stop by and see JiJi in action! Our MIND lab is located in room 12 almost any time of the day!
